• A tollfree Shramik Sahayata Helpline (155368 for workers inside Odisha and 18003456703 for workers outside the State) has been made operational, 24 X 7.

 

Odisha Migrant Labour Help Desk in other States

 

• Odia Migrant Labour Help Desk has been made operational in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Surat (Gujarat. The Help Desks function as a First Point of Contact for the Odia workers in distress in other states.

 

Seasonal Hostels for the Children of Migrant Workers

 

• Seasonal Hostels for children of seasonal migrant workers have been opened in coordination with School and Mass Education Department, in the districts of Bolangir, Bargarh, Kalahandi and Nuapada to ensure continuity of education for these children when their parents migrate during seasonal migration. These hostels are operational every year for the migration season.

 

Strengthening Anti-Human Trafficking Units

• Financial support have been extended to Superintendents of Police in 14 districts for strengthening Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTU) at district level. Joint training of DSPs / Additional SPs and District Labour Officers have been conducted in Biju Patnaik State Police Academy in the year 2023-24.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Survey of migration prone GPs

• Household Survey in 290 GPs in 20 blocks of Bolangir, Bargarh, Kalahandi and Nuapada through National Law University, Odisha has been completed. Process has been initiated for survey in 187 additional GPs in above districts.

IEC Activities

• Massive IEC activities through wall painting, poster distribution, hoarding, street plays, jingles and video spots are undertaken at GP / Block and District level in the migration prone districts of Odisha.

 

Reducing Distress Migration in Odisha :- Special Package for Distress Migration :

• Under the Special Package for reduction of distress migration in 477 GPs of 20 blocks in the districts of Bolangir, Bargarh, Kalahandi and Nuapada, employment under MGNREGA has been allowed upto 300 days in a year.

 

• The remuneration for MGNREGA workers (unskilled) have been made at par with notified minimum wages (unskilled) in 20 blocks of Bolangir, Bargarh, Kalahandi and Nuapada district.
